Where Would You Like To Go?

5 Minute Friday (Link Up)

One of my favorite bloggers, Lisa Jo Baker, does a 5 minute Friday every Friday.  I look forward to reading hers and many others and have decided that I want to try my hand at it.  I guess I've been a little intimidated because of how unstructured the whole thing is compared to how I usually write.  She asks us to write for 5 minutes on a given topic - no editing, no stopping, no anything except just what flows from our brain & our hearts to the page.  Here's a link to her how-to if you want to join in!

RED...

I wonder what I used to think of when I heard this color.  Now, all that comes into my mind is "red light' as in the "red light district".  The color makes my heart break, it brings up images of sex trafficking and little girls being sold for money.  I have flashes of parents believing lies that are given to them in exchange for possibly life changing money as they give away their daughters.  The color now makes me stop.  RED makes me think.  RED makes me pray.

I look at her, this silly 2 1/2 year old prancing around - laughing at the silliest things...a big unhindered belly laugh, and wonder how she belongs in this world.  A world that is full of RED - full of heartbreak, red light districts, and evil.  She has no clue - she doesn't know what all is out there and I have a fierce fire that burns red hot to protect her from all of it.

In the middle of praying, I start seeing a different red...a RED that is brighter and stronger than any evil that exists.  The RED bloodshed of my Savior, of the only SAVIOR this world needs.  His RED covers all the others - His RED can make the other reds WHITE.  This is the red I will focus on, when teaching Ryleigh, when praying, when walking, when thinking.

  3. I love this!! thanks so much for sharing. and yes red does take on a whole different meaning when you think about what Jesus did for us. Interesting that you thought of sex trafficking and the color red. I had never thought of that. thanks for putting that into my head and for making that connection for me.

    Stopping by from FMF.

    Have a beautiful weekend!
