Where Would You Like To Go?

Five Minute Friday: Release

It’s Friday. The day we write together for five shared and sacred minutes. The prompt this week is RELEASE. The details for how to participate are over here. And the post today? It’s why I think you need to keep writing no matter how many voices in your head and your life tell you that you’re not a “real” writer because your audience is invisibly small, or because you haven’t written a book or because you aren’t invited to speaking events or because no one reads you outside of your family. Read on below and then just. keep. writing.  - Lisa Jo

Release -

One of the first things she learned to do was grab, grasp, hold tight...

Coincidental that it's one of the first things we do in our sinful nature...I don't think so.
But we continue on as we grow up...
holding tight to the toys that we don't want to share
clinging on to mom/dad that we don't want to leave
grasping at friends who will stay by our side
storing up possessions that we "need"
grabbing at the best position, the newest promotion

and what's the Lord saying?
let it go
raise your hands
surrender it all
release it to Me
ask and you shall receive

How can we receive any of those good and perfect gifts if we have our hands raised and clenched tight??
We must have them open, palms up, everything offered to Him who owns all things

  1. Oh how my heart smiled to see your sweet family! I have two boys so I always squeal with delight when I see little families with two girls...so cute!

I am your neighbor on Lisa Jo's link up. I loved your post. I coincided with this: 32-33 The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind! They didn’t even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, “That’s mine; you can’t have it.” They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them." from Acts 4. I love how God works like that!

Reading this morning in His Word and again on a stranger's page. May He truly be magnified and help us release our grasp on the things that we hold too tight! Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Love it - how we have to open our clinched fist and let go of what we're holding if we want to receive what God is offering. Beautiful words today!

  5. beautiful girlies!!! and how neat that you work in madagascar. i just had to click over (from Lisa Jo's) and find out a bit more about you.

loved your comparison here with your little one clutching tight. i'd never thought about it before, but so true that we learn to cling before we learn to release. releasing is significantly more scary... at least i think so!

    blessings!
